Growing Leaves

There is a tree inside

When I breathe it grows

I find its leaves at the foot of my bed

Drifting towards the edge of the pools

of my eyes

When I slept last night

My arms became branches

There was a bird’s nest in

the crook of my elbow

The downy feathers under my head

I had scrambled eggs this morning.

Lurking

I fear the silence that has been growing.
Yet the more I fight, the more it is.
In my words I find no answers lurking
And there you sit, saying no-thing.
In quests you're found, just not here --
You are there and I am not.
Three cheers for the battles you win!
Deeper silence for the battles I've lost.
